BIM Technician
Job Description
Position Summary:
The BIM Technician will be responsible for creating and managing digital modes documentation for electrical systems in various construction projects. This employee will ensure the accuracy and quality of models and collaborate with project teams to support the design, coordination, and installation of electrical systems.
Essential Job Functions
· Develop and maintain BIM models for electrical systems using software such as Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks.
· Create detailed 3D models, shop drawings, and as-built documentation.
· Ensure models meet project specifications, standards, and client requirements.
· Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to integrate electrical models with other building systems.
· Participate in coordination meetings to identify and resolve clashes and design issues.
· Assist in the preparation and review of coordination drawings.
· Perform quality checks on models to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with industry standards.
· Review and update models based on design changes, field conditions, and feedback from project teams.
· Provide technical support and training to project teams on BIM software and processes.
· Assist in the development and implementation of BIM standards and workflows.
· Troubleshoot and resolve BIM related issues.
· Manage and organize BIM files and data to ensure accessibility and version control.
· Maintain project documentation, including RFI responses, submittals, and change orders.
· Ensure proper documentation of design changes and updates.
· Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in BIM and electrical design.
· Participate in professional development opportunities and training programs.
· Contribute to the continuous improvement of BIM processes and standard within the company.
· Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Skills and Education
· Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, drafting, or related field, preferred.
· 2-5 years of experience in BIM modeling, preferably in the electrical industry.
· Proficient in BIM software such as Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks.
· Strong understanding of electrical systems and construction processes.
· Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
· Strong communication and collaboration skills.
· Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
· BIM certification, is a plus.
