Project Summary

Project Manager – Shawn Mencl
General Foreman – Craig Ideus

To continue its betterment of the state and its students that pass through its doors, Southeast Community College broke ground earlier this year on a 54,000 sq. ft expansion to its Milford campus. The entire facility is dedicated to expanding SCC’s capacity to produce Diesel Technology and Diesel-Ag Equipment Service graduates. Capitol City Electric was brought in by Boyd Jones Construction to help with the college expansion. This includes nine classrooms and labs, two large shops for students to work on agriculture and diesel equipment, and 27 welding stations. Overseeing the project for Capitol City Electric is Project Manager Shawn Mencl and Foreman Craig Ideus. They are joined along with electricians Gabe Fraher, Daulton Technology.

In March, SCC President Paul Illich told Channel 8 KLKN-TV that diesel truck technology positions should increase by 14% in the next few years. To help meet those growing needs and related industries in Nebraska, SCC set out with a master plan in 2016. This plan was efficiently executed, allowing for students to begin study at SCC Milford in September of 2020.
