Job Summary:
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll, maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and resolving payroll-related issues. This role involves managing payroll records, generating and filing payroll reports, verifying timekeeping data, and ensuring employees are paid correctly. The Payroll Specialist plays a critical role in maintaining the integrity of payroll operations while providing exceptional service to employees.

Key Responsibilities:

Payroll:

  • Process payroll weekly for all employees in compliance with company policies and regulations.
  • Review timekeeping data to ensure accuracy.
  • Generate detailed payroll reports and ensure proper filing of payroll-related documentation.
  • Maintain and update payroll records.
  • Address employee inquiries regarding payroll discrepancies, tax forms, or pay-related issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Process and reconcile payroll adjustments, such as retroactive pay, corrections, or terminations.
  • Collaborate with HR to ensure accurate benefit deductions and compensation.
  • Assist in audits by providing payroll data.

 

 

Qualifications

 

  • Education:

    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.

    Experience:

    • Union payroll experience preferred
    • Paycor and Foundation Accounting Software or similar knowledge
    • Proficiency in payroll reporting and timekeeping systems

    Skills:

    • Strong understanding of payroll processes, laws, and regulations (e.g., FLSA, tax filings, garnishments).
    • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (e.g., formulas, pivot tables) and other Microsoft Office applications.
    • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and reconciliation.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
    • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to interact with employees
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet tight deadlines.
    • Quickly adapts to dynamic work environment
